Find out what a skin treatment involves

Every person's skin is different, so a consultation comes first. Send a request and ask your questions before anything is planned.

Skin treatments at a glance

Skin treatments are the services on a med spa menu that work on the skin itself, apart from injectables and hair removal. The usual group is facials, chemical peels, microneedling and light-based treatments such as intense pulsed light. Some are gentle and quick. Others are more involved and come with aftercare instructions. Strength, depth and the device used all vary. A licensed provider decides what is suitable for you after asking about your skin and health. This site passes your consultation request to a provider in or near New Orleans.

What a provider looks at first

Before suggesting any skin treatment, a licensed provider usually asks about a handful of things:

  • your skin type and how it tends to react to products
  • your health history, including conditions such as eczema, rosacea or cold sores
  • medicines you take, including acne medicine by mouth and vitamin A creams
  • whether you are pregnant, trying to become pregnant or breastfeeding
  • recent sun exposure, tanning or self-tanner
  • past treatments and how your skin handled them

These answers shape which treatments are an option and at what strength. If a provider skips these questions, it is fair to ask why.

Before you send a request

You can send a consultation request without knowing which skin treatment you want. Before you fill in the form, think about:

  • what you would like to ask a provider about
  • whether you have a treatment in mind, or want to hear options
  • the easiest way and time to reach you
  • anything you would rather discuss in person than write down

The form asks only for your name, contact details, the service and a short message. Keep health details brief there, and save the full picture for the consultation. Sending a request does not book or commit you to anything.

Questions about skin treatments

What is the difference between a facial and a chemical peel?

A facial is a hands-on service built around cleansing, exfoliation and masks. A chemical peel is a solution applied to the skin for a set time, in strengths that range from light to deeper. Peels usually come with more specific aftercare. A provider can explain which, if either, suits your skin.

Can I have a skin treatment if I am pregnant?

Some skin treatments and products are usually avoided during pregnancy and breastfeeding, and others may still be an option. Tell the provider at the start of the consultation, and they will decide what is suitable. For questions about your pregnancy, your own doctor or midwife is the right person to ask.

What if my skin reacts after a treatment?

Follow the aftercare instructions and contact the provider who treated you. They can tell you what is expected and what is not. For pain, signs of infection, blistering or anything that worries you, see a doctor or dermatologist. This site is not a clinic and cannot give medical advice.
